As the years passed we got older they lost interest and I gained control of the consoles. From Atari to Nintendo to sega to super Nintendo to sega cd, 32x, Nintendo 64 and playstation these were my realm I controlled the controller during this time my younger brother and our cousins were now in my old position they would have to wait to play. Get there homework done do there chores I mean I was ruthless and when it came to competition they had no chance. Street fighter, mortal combat, killer instinct, Mario go kart, super smash brothers and goldeneye 007 I dominated them all with no mercy they would try and team up especially in goldeneye but there was no use I was too good my strafing and proximity mine combination was unstoppable.
There were many days of screams and frustration thrown controllers and walk outs but I held on to my crown. Well I met a girl and got married and I still loved games but my world had become a bit bigger since the days of smash brothers and goldeneye. Time has passed as we moved forward a couple of generation from PS2 and Xbox to the Wii, PS3 and the Xbox 360 my little brother and cousins aren't so small anymore and they have a bit of a vendetta with me that needs quenching.
I came back home after three years and I was called into the back game room by a roar of cheers. I am asked about our past endeavor and if I remember how I crushed there dreams of ever being the king of controllers an I paused I totally forgot about that. well they informed me it was time for some payback. Okay okay I might be a little rusty but I'm a gamer through and through I thought. From halo multiplayer to super smash brothers back to halo then some soul caliber. They took turns dissecting me piece by piece.
I played with pikachu, but in smash bros if two people want to use the same character they would have to battle for that player and my young cousin pattern his gameplay after me and he became viscous. I use to send him to do his home work just so he wouldn't beat me at 7 and now he was ready. I couldn't even use the lightning bolt I would be smacked out Of the sky with every scream pikaaaa pow down I go. They pummeled me over and over with laughs and cheers. I almost didn't recognize them they turned into a group of hyenas.
I was shocked I couldn't believe what I had turned them into. those early years of dominance came at a price. I gave up sure they beat me fair and square but the fun was lost for me at least. Their joy didn't come from an awesome game played with a friend , there enthused squeals at my expense were the only balm to soothe the past torment. I know better now and even though they might think I'm lame for wanting to play co-op with them instead of competitively I'd much rather us learn to play together then destroy each other. This wasn't more clearer than when my nephew saw the gaming legacy, heard the stories and destined to behead the master. I saw this as the chance to change and was glad for it.
